Carla has been practicing yoga since the mid 80s and began teaching in 1996. She became acquainted with yoga in the late 70s while living in Boston. She received her 200 hour certification from Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, Mass. under the direction of Yoganand Michael Carroll and Tarika. On her yogic journey, she has also had the privilege of studying with nationally known master yogis, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Erich Schiffmann, and Baron Baptiste, as well as others. Her yoga classes are an eclectic blend from her favorite teachers, incorporating vinyasa flowing yoga, coordinating breath and movement and holding poses to instill a sense of grounding, and space for meditation.
Carla opened Conscious Living Studio in Stratford, CT in 2001, which exhibited art work, local artisan crafted merchandise, held classes and workshops. Conscious Living Studio was there approximately 3 years, employing usually 8 teachers who taught Yoga, Tai Chi, and dance. We all had a lot of fun together; many a friend was made. Carla then decided to become a mobile yoga teacher and bring yoga and more to her students.
Carla has experience in teaching Pilates, Yogilates, Yoga on the Ball, Aqua Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Aerobics, Aquatic Exercise, and fitness classes using weights and flexibands. She is currently studying to become a certified personal trainer through The National Academy of Sports Medicine(NASM).
Carla delights in sharing the joys of yoga asanas(postures),meditation, pranayama(breathing techniques), and everyday living, off the mat yogic philosophy with her students. She enjoys teaching all levels of yoga to a variety of populations ranging from youngsters to seniors in a variety of settings including corporate settings, assisted and independent living environments, community gyms, day care settings for developmental delayed adults, private homes, hospitals, and more. She also has worked in the field of Rehabilitation Therapy and has a Masters degree from the University of Georgia.
